OVERVIEW:
UBS provides financial advice and solutions to wealthy, institutional and corporate clients worldwide. We’re designing a consolidated utility for UBS Advisors to manage their book of business. A new tool that simplifies management of portfolios and creates greater efficiencies.
ROLE: UX Designer. Product thinking, Research, Wireframe, and Prototyping.
TEAM: 1 Design Lead, 2 UX Designers. 1 Engagement Manager, 1 Researcher.
Problem
Advisors need a better platform manage their book of business. Advisors and FA teams see the value in engaging in planning-based relationships with clients. Yet the current consultwork is cumbersome and difficult to make live updates.
Goal
The goal is to enable our advisors to deepen client relationships, provide high quality advice, and implement solutions with greater efficiencies. A tool includes insights, opportunities, and manage accounts and portfolios that save time which can be applied to more value-added client activities.

Design Process
Option 1 – Hierarchy View
Designed to be consistent with the other platform (CRM), this summary view of the book of business centers on accounts, from high-level information to specifics. This includes at-a-glance summery, accounts-driven structure, expandable sections show additional details.
Option 2 – Focused View
A one-stop view that simplifies and prioritizes. A view of the book of business gives uncluttered focus to the most urgent action items, with easy navigation to account details. This includes action-driven structure, focus on next best actions, collapsible ”drawers” open to show most relevant information.
We designed the first version of accounts table based on the UBS ConsultWorks Design Library table patterns and components.
Financial Advisor wants to create an account group. Advisor then creates a proposal for newly created group.
Financial Advisor wants to contribute money to existing UMA program. Advisor has already identified the account where he has contributed $100,000 and now he wants to allocate $100,000. Advisor wants to direct those dollars to a particular sleeve or manager and he doesn’t want the system to contribute to other sleeves.
Moving Forward
After the first 4 Sprints - Proof of Concept, we plan to create mid-fidelity prototype to capture just enough detail to learn more through user testing before we dive into the MVP Sprints.
